1761, BLUE INTERLACED LS ENCLOSING DATE LETTER I, PAINTER'S SCRIPT N MARKS FOR ALONCLE, VARIOUS INCISED MARKS
Each piece painted with exotic birds in trees and among shrubs within shaped oval and circular gilt ciselé cartouches with gilt zig-zag and scroll ornament, within gilt dentil rims, comprising:

An oviform teapot and cover (cover with minute chipping to finial and very slight crack to interior flange)

A circular sugar-bowl and cover (finial broken off and restuck, damage and restoration to foliage of finial, slight flaking to gilt rim of bowl)

A baluster cream-jug (pot à lait a trois pieds)

Four teacups and four saucers (cups with slight wear to dentil rims)

Lot Essay

François-Joseph Aloncle painted birds, animals and landscapes at Sèvres from 1758 to 1781. A cup and saucer of this pattern is in the Musée de Sèvres.
