The can with an ear-shaped handle with moulded gilt foliage thumbpiece and pendant gilt husks, the body with a central broad blue band gilt with dots and edged with gilt borders of dot and overlapping ovolo ornament, with horizontal shaded blue staves enwined with gilt foliage and pink ribbons above and below, the saucer similarly decorated about a central blue gilt-edged medallion, gilt dentil rims (can with slight wear to gilt foliage and footrim, well of saucer with area of scratching to stave and some wear to gilt foliage, gilding of foliage possibly refreshed)

Jean-Baptiste Tandart (l'aîné) was a painter at Sèvres from 1754 to 1800. Michel-Barnabé Chauvaux (l'aîné or père) was a gilder at Sèvres from 1752 to 1788.
