A MEISSEN GILT-METAL MOUNTED SCENT-BOTTLE
CIRCA 1726-28, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Of flattened baluster form with canted edges, each side finely painted with Orientals at various pursuits including weighing ore, flanked by flowering shrubs and on gilt scrolling strapwork supports enclosing Böttger-lustre panels and edged in dark-brown, the sides with single Orientals standing on smaller supports, above a gilt band and waisted rectangular foot with canted corners, the neck with an elaborate border of interlocking gilt scrolls and pendant Böttger-lustre lozenge-shaped panels below a gilt band rim, the gilt-metal circular foliate sliding cover with a loop finial and attached to the bottle with a bent wire sprung into the interior (minute areas of wear)
