CIRCA 1740, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK, GILDER'S 20. MARK, PRESSNUMMER 49 (?)
The caddy with gilt band edges, the ground of the sides reserved with four marine scenes, with figures arriving at a palace by barge, boating figures by fortifications and with merchants by cargo and a tower, within shaped quatrefoil gilt line cartouches, the flat shoulder with a puce-edged shaped rectangular white panel with two flowering shrubs, the green-ground cylindrical cover edged with a gilt band, the top reserved with a small quayside vignette (areas of minute wear, caddy with a very small and a minute chip to footrim, cover broken through and repaired and drilled for a mount)
