A PAIR OF MEISSEN WHITE MODELS OF LIONS
CIRCA 1740-45
Finely modelled by J.J. Kändler to the right and left, each with incised coats and features, the first lioness seated on her haunches and suckling her cub, her tail curled over her right hind leg, her head bent down and scratching her chin with her right forepaw, the second lioness seated on her haunches with her right foreleg raised, her jaws open and her tail curled about her left hind leg (slight chipping to some claws, left lion with chip to left ear, porcelain tail restuck or a replacement, right lion with forelegs restuck, minute chipping to end of tail and one tooth lacking)
