A PAIR OF MEISSEN MODELS OF PHEASANTS
CIRCA 1745-50, PRESSNUMMER 47 TO BOTH, HEN IMPRESSED THRICE, COCK BIRD IMPRESSED TWICE
Modelled to the left and right with their heads turned and tails raised, their speckled and dappled plumage in various shades of reddish-brown, the hen with pale-blue markings, the cock with green and blue patches to its head, neck and chest, with small red patches about its eyes, its back with sgraffito lines, each perched astride tree-stumps with leafy branches and applied with sheaves of wheat, the hen with three chicks at her feet (chipping to foliage and wheat, two chicks and hen with restored beaks, cock with tail restuck, small restored chip to tip of left wing, chipping to beak, two claws and edge of base, hen and cock both with tails partially replaced)
