Hector Guimard was engaged in the commissions for both the Maison Coilliot and Castel Henriette at Sèvres between 1899 and 1900; chairs to a virtually identical design as the present example for the Maison Coilliot were also incorporated in Guimard's interiors for Castel Henriette.
