'Blenheim', a German teddy bear

Details
'Blenheim', a German teddy bear
with golden mohair, orange and black glass eyes, pronounced muzzle, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed limbs and hump, 1930s --32½in. (83cm.) high (ears and hand pads replaced with scraps of army uniform, left arm detatched, one wrist and one ankle split and general wear)
Provenance
Blenheim was found in the ruins of Hamburg where Flt.Lt. Leon Pappé of No.83 Group RAF found himself during the final days of WWII.
Having been bombed out of several flats in London, Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare, his wife Estelle managed to find a basement flat at 114a Haverstock Hill, Hampstead during his prolonged absence.
It was here in December 1945, the postman arrived with a large parcel for the 5 months pregnant Estelle. The outside of the parcel was a large barrage ballon, the next layer a white silk parachute and inside lay this bear.
Special notice
No VAT will be charged on the hammer price, but VAT at 17.5% will be added to the buyer's premium which is invoiced on a VAT inclusive basis
