A silver-gilt and enamel charka
circa 1750
Circular, of traditional form, on flattened foot, the rim chased and engraved with old-Russian adage 'Charka of a good man, drink from it to your health...', the body chased and engraved with foliate scrolls, the centre of the bowl with applied dome engraved and enamelled with floral motifs, the shaped handle with a mythological scene of a man wrestling a lion, apparently unmarked
3½ in. (9 cm.) long
2 oz. (86 gr.) gross.
