A pair of French silver wine-coolers
Mark of Jean-Baptiste Gustave Odiot, Paris, circa 1880
Each waisted urn-shaped, on shaped circular foot, cast and chased with rocaille, strapwork and foliage, with two foliate scroll and bullrush handles, with detachable plain cylindrical liner and collar, each engraved twice on the body and once each on liner and collar with a monogram MP with Royal crown above, each marked under base, liner, and on collar bezel, also stamped 'ODIOT A PARIS' and with pattern number, with later Lisbon control marks for 1887-1938

The monogram is for Maria Pia of Savoy (1847-1911), second daughter of King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy (1820-1878), and wife of King Luís I of Portugal (1838-1889). (2)
