Tasting note: First tasted the spring after the vintage. Rather rough texture yet good potential. At Gassac (1994): alcohol 13 more varnish than fruit but opened up well; silky yet teeth-gripping tannins. Now fairly deep, still youthful; nose singed, bricky, spicy; very sweet, with a warm ripe fruitiness. Lovely wine. Now-2009 *****. M.B. (Sept 2001)
