Another version of this previously unrecorded picture by Nicola Maria Rossi, a brilliant pupil of Francesco Solimena, is published by N. Spinosa, Pittura napoletana del Settecento dal Barocco al Rococó, p. 244, no. 104, pl. 120, of which there is also a prototype in Dresden by Francesco Solimena. The present picture can be dated to circa 1740.
