A fine cabriolet fan,
the upper leaf painted with a stag hunt, figures in a gondola on the lagoon, and a man ferrying barrels, the lower leaf with two landscape vignettes in tones of blue, and a still life of peaches, grapes and cherries, the verso with blossom and insects, the ivory sticks finely carved with plants, painted and gilt, the section between the two leaves pierced and painted with a series of loggias, four containing chinoiserie figures, when the fan is closed, these form a spy hole, or kiosque, the foredge of the fansticks are carved with the sides of the loggia - 9.5in. (24cm.) - French, circa 1750 - in 19th century morocco fan box
