A trompe l'oeil fan,
the leaf painted with a young couple and and elderly couple in a landscape with cupid by a gazebo, the reserves painted to resemble brocaded silk, the verso with a shepherdess in a landscape with a house and a ruin, painted in tones of blue and mauve against a pink ground, the ivory sticks painted to resemble pink brocaded silk and carved and pierced with a central vignette of figures - 10.5in. (26cm.), French, circa 1770 (the verso of leaf repaired)
