The Birth of Bacchus,
a fan, the leaf painted with Mercury handing the baby to Ino, sister of Semele, the verso painted with a shepherdess, two Harlequins, cupid dressed as Pierrot wearing a mask, and cupid holding a mask of Punch, the ivory sticks carved and pierced with the Judgement of Paris, dogs and birds, the guardsticks carved with Vulcan and Minerva and dolphins - 10.5in. (26cm.), English, circa 1750, the verso French (slight damage to sticks)
