Various Artists - 1950s-1980s
A large collection of approximately 1,000 negatives, transparencies and stills, the shots taken by Bob Penn, majority of prints with photographer's ink-credit to reverse, some duplicates, subjects include:
- Audrey Hepburn: three black and white stills from Secret People, 1952, all -- 11½x9½in. (29x24cm.);
- Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman: 36 black and white photographs of subjects taken during a boat trip on the River Thames in London during filming Indiscreet, 1958, with 28 copy negatives and contact sheets;
- Tony Hancock: three black and white stills of subject in The Rebel, 1961; and 12 black and white photographs of Tony Hancock and Trevor Howard at the Carlton Hotel, Cannes during the Film Festival, all -- 10x8in. (25.4x20.3cm.);
- Kirk Douglas and Yul Brynner: approximately 37 black and white photographs of subjects with co-star Santa Berger on the set of Cast A Giant Shadow, 1966, majority -- 14x11in. (35.4x28cm.), with 31 copy negatives;
- Sophia Loren: three black and white portraits, including two publicity shots for Judith, 1966, all -- 14x11in. (35.4x28cm.); - Katharine Hepburn: 52 colour and black and white negatives and transparencies of subject filming A Lion In Winter, 1968, with three colour prints;
- Billy Wilder: approximately 138 shots taken during the filming of The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes, 1970, shots include nine of Wilder directing, other subjects include Robert Stephens with his wife Maggie Smith chatting between takes; Stanley Holloway and Christopher Lee, majority -- 11x15in. (28x38cm.);
- A Bridge Too Far, 1977: approximately 185 prints and negatives taken during filming, subjects include Laurence Olivier, Robert Redford, Michael Caine, Anthony Hopkins, Sean Connery and Dirk Bogarde; and an illustrated souvenir book; and
- Evil Under The Sun, 1982: three colour slides [two of Peter Ustinov as Poirot and one of Diana Rigg]; and a special edition book made up of 14 prints, majority black and white, all -- 12x16in. (30.5x40.6cm.) (a lot)
