Following its huge Broadway success, My Fair Lady opened to much acclaim in London on 30th April, 1958. Julie Andrews played Eliza Doolittle opposite Rex Harrison's Professor Higgins. As with the later 1964 film adaptation, the costumes for the stage production were designed by Cecil Beaton, and remain some of the most recognisable costume designs.
