A Louis Philippe bronze, ormolu and rouge marble striking mantel clock, circa 1840
Modelled as a figure of Chronos, the naturalistic base with small pyramid mount engraved with pseudo hieroglyphics, the red marble raised on winged paw feet, the dial with off white enamel Roman chapter ring signed GALLE RUE VIVIENNE NO.9, with engine-turned ormolu centre mount, blued steel Breguet hands, the eight day twin barrel movement with silk suspension and countwheel strike on bell -- 21¾in. (55cm.) high
