The case with brass handle to bell top, pierced frets to the sides and to the front door, on squab feet, the 7¼in. wide brass dial with foliate spandrels to silvered chapter ring, silvered and engraved centre signed Rd. Carrington/London, the strike/silent ring to the arch also with silvered and engraved centre, the eight day movement with five pillars, twin wire fusees and now with anchor escapement, strike and trip repeat on replaced bell, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls and a chinoiserie pagoda around a signature reserve Rich.d/Carrington/London, lacking securing brackets; movement second half 18th century, case and dial later -- 18in.
