The case with tesselated arched roof and rustic imbricated sides with tracery windows backed by etched glass, on stepped base, with fretwork panel to the rear door and gargoyles projecting to the front angles, with gilt sight ring to an arched dial profusely engraved with foliate scrolls, Roman chapter ring, signed on a reserve below PAYNE & CO./NEW BOND STREET/LONDON and with chime/not chime regulation above, black painted steel heart-shaped hands, the eight day twin chain fusee movement with anchor escapement, hour strike and quarter chimes on four gongs, with repeat signature to the back plate with pendulum holdfast -- 16 5/8in. (42cm.) high
