A George II oak thirty-hour longcase clock, circa 1750
The hood with stepped and moulded top above a blind frieze front fret, outset turned pillars, with mahogany banded and wavy arch trunk door, flanked by pilasters, the plinth also mahogany banded and with wavy skirting, the 12in. square brass dial with bird and urn spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with entwined leaf half hour markers and elongated diamond half quarter hour markers, lightly matted centre with engraved border, with scroll engraving around a ringed date aperture, dummy ringed winding holes, blued steel hands, the four pillar movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel strike on bell -- 81½in. (207cm.) high
