The tapering column with gilt-brass collets and rectangular ebonised cistern cover above four typical gilt-brass folding feet, concealed tube, with engraved gilt-brass frame surmounted by three finials, those to the outside for adjusting pointers, the lower section bearing spurious signature Daniel Quare, with glass panel to silvered plates bearing date 1682 -- 40in. (101.5cm.) high
