Third edition, and first German edition PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED BY PAVLOV on half title: "Herrn Prof. Dr. J.E. Johansson mit freundlichem Gruss vom Verfasser." Johansson (1862-1935) an acquaintance of Alfred Nobel, and an admirer of Pavlov's work, was a member of the Nobel Committee, and visited Pavlov and his laboratory on behalf of the Nobel Committee in 1901. Pavlov was repeatedly nominated for the Nobel Prize, and was awarded the price in 1904.
