EUSEBIUS CAESARIENSIS (c.260-c.340). De evangelica praeparatione, translated by Georgius Trapezuntius (1396-1486), edited by Hieronymus Bononius. Venice: Bartholomaeus de Zanis, 3 November 1498.
Super-chancery 2° (313 x 211mm). Gothic type, woodcut initials. (Front hinges cracked, some marginal dampstaining, a few marginal wormholes towards end.) Contemporary half pigskin, blindtooled and stained, over wooden boards (lacking clasps, spine repaired, worn at extremities). Provenance: early marginal annotations.
FIRST ISSUE OF THIS EDITION. The publishers seem to have encountered some problems with sales of this work, possibly because Bernardinus Benalius had earlier acquired a privilege to print. Originally published in 1498, the edition was reissued two years later with a few setting changes and the colophon updated to 1500 (cf. H *6707; BMC V, 435; Goff E-123). GW 9445. Not in Hain, BMC or Goff.
