JACK KEROUAC CHECK
1958
A check made out to "Cash" for thirty dollars on Christmas Eve drawn on Jack Kerouac and his mother Gabrielle's account, signed by him in blue ballpoint ink. The check is drawn from Security National Bank in Northport, New York. 1958 was a busy year for Kerouac after working in obscurity for so long. He published two books, The Subterraneans and The Dharma Bums, which followed up on the success of the previous year's On The Road, as well as writing and narrating the film Pull My Daisy in which fellow beats Allen Ginsberg and Gregory Corso appeared.
