A three page typed press memorandum from the Public Information Division of the Brooklyn Army Terminal Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York announcing the departure of Elvis Presley to Bremerhaven, Germany on September 22, 1958. The document reads in part "Private Elvis A. Presley, US 53310761, will depart from the Brooklyn Army Terminal today (Sept. 22) aboard a Navy transport, USS Randall Private Presley was one of some 9,400 young soldiers being trained by the 2nd Armored (Iron Deuce) Division at Fort Hood, Texas, for duty with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany." Elvis was stationed in Germany for eighteen months, was promoted to Sergeant in January 1960 and was discharged from active duty in March 1960.
