ELVIS PRESLEY PERSONAL APPEARANCE CONTRACT FROM COLONEL TOM PARKER
1956
A printed personal appearance contract, matted and framed, with details and additions typed in from Elvis Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker to Howard Strickling of MGM Studios. The contract was used as a joke by Col. Parker with individual details put in for each use, reading in part: "The Nation's Only Atomic Powered Singer Elvis Presley personal appearance contract between Col. Thomas A. Parker for the services of Elvis Presley (party of the first part) and Colonel Howard Strickling (party of the unimportant part), press agent for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures, the stuffed-lion studio, and Col Strickling's entire staff of assistants, without whom he would be unable to snow all the visiting dignitaries." The lengthy contract continues on with several jokes at the expense of the MGM executive.
