HANDWRITTEN JIMI HENDRIX LYRICS
CIRCA 1967
A piece of green and white paper with handwritten lyrics in blue ink by Jimi Hendrix reading; "Even the sun is hesitant to shine Through slag filled clouds that comes from clouds of factories coughing waste, grit and grime. Air can be clearer, but dear me, who would dare think of all that money to spend, [bless it's little paper heart], Just to keep from breathing filth and gaseous slime?" The verso has a handwritten note in purple ink reading "Burt Block Westbury Hotel." The first line of this lyric is similar to a line in Hendrix's song "If Six Was Nine," which appeared on the 1967 album Bold as Love, as well as on the soundtrack for the 1969 film Easy Rider. These lyrics read in part "Yeah - sing a song, brother If the sun refused to shine I don't mind, I don't mind - yeah If the mountains fell in the sea Let it be, it ain't me - well, alright." The lyrics could be an early draft of this song.
