JOHN LENNON IMAGINE ACETATE WITH HANDWRITTEN NOTES
1971
John Lennon's personal advance acetate for his 1971 LP, Imagine (Capitol). The affixed labels appear on custom Apple labels with each track typed respectively. The accompanying protective paper sleeve (with an Apple Records logo appearing at bottom left) features handwritten notations in Lennon's hand in blue and black ball point ink. Here, Lennon writes "Two friends of Paul Krasner" and proceeds with a numerical track listing which credits the various musicians who appear on the record. Notable is his notation on the third track on side two "How Do You Sleep" (a blatant insult to former Beatle Paul McCartney) which reads "George on lead guitar (enough said)!" Lennon refers to himself in the third person, writing his name seven times throughout the credits. The album was released on September 9, 1971 and reached number one on Billboard's Pop Album chart later that year. Also present is a signed letter of authenticity from Frank Caiazzo of The Beatles Autographs.
