Sir Kenelm Digby (1599-1641) était un commandant de marine, un diplomate et un scientifique ami de Descartes et de Van Dyck. Il fut envoyé par le roi Charles Ier d'Angleterre auprès du pape pour demander son appui lors de la guerre civile.
