Lot Essay

Napoleon I and Josephine could not have children. When Napoleon's mistress Maria Louisa became pregnant he divorced Josephine and married Maria Louisa. She gave birth to a baby boy who was christened: Napoleon Francois-Joseph Charles, and as heir to the French Empire, Napoleon's son was named the Duke of Reichstadt. He died in 1832, age 21.
