A fine silver holy water stoup
Apparently unmarked, possibly Flemish, circa 1700
Chased in high relief with the Virgin Mary with stars around her head against clouds, below her feet a crescent moon symbolising Chastity, a snake symbolising the vanquishing of Sin, the young Christ on her left holding a Cross and halo behind his head, small shell-shaped basin below, later mounted on green velvet, silvered and gilt wood frame
