Lot Essay

The table's mosaiced top in the form of a geometric sunflower relates to that of lava slabs at Paxton House, Scotland for which frames were supplied in 1814 by William Trotter (F. Bamford, Dictionary of Edinburgh Wrighs and Furniture Makers, Leeds, 1983, pl.54a).
