Late 18th Century, The associated movement signed Nathaniel Brown, Manchester
The North West England case with swan neck hood with carved rosette caps and outset reeded columns, moulded door frame and mock verre eglomisé panels, with blind fret carving above and below the trunk door flanked by reeded pilasters with carved capitals, with further blind fret work to the canted angles, the 13in. square cut-away brass dial with bird and urn spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with engraved scrolls, date aperture and steel hands, the later applied arch with disc signed Nath. Brown/MANCHESTER, the eight day movement with four pillars, anchor escapement and rack strike/trip repeat on later bell; case associated to adapted dial and movement, last quarter 18th century; pendulum
