A George III red and gilt-japanned striking table clock with alarm

The case decorated with chinoiserie designs and with brass handle and pineapple finials to bell top, two glazed panels to the sides, with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with recessed plaque signed James Smith/London, alarm-setting disc to the centre and date aperture below, blued steel hands, with strike/silent ring to the arch, the eight day movement with five pillars, twin fusees with verge escapement, strike, trip repeat and pull wind alarm on bell, the back plate engraved with foliate scrolls around a dragon cartouche
