THREE CALIFORNIA BASKETRY ITEMS
the first, a Hupa polychrome twined woman's hat, woven of typical materials, with half-twist overlay design of triangular elements encircling at the mid-section and at the rim, a series of three pendants, composed mainly of abalone, dentalia, and clam shell, suspended from one side; the second, a Hupa polychrome twined bowl, of deep rounded form, similarly woven, with a banded design circumscribing the body; the third, a Mission coiled bowl, with wide flat base and rounded sides tapering inward to rim, woven of willow and juncus, decorated with three diagonal stepped bands
