The '1839' Inventory records a 'Cornice blind' in the 'Chinese Room'. It appears that the present beds may have been constructed using these pelmets.
The Duke of Bedford patronised the Prince's architect Humphrey Repton (d.1818) at both Endsleigh and Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire, as well as the Mount Street court cabinet-makers Edward Bailey and Thomas Tatham (d .1818), who supplied him with related Chinese-fashioned ' Bamboo chairs' (sold at Christie's House sale, Woburn Abbey, Bedfordshire, 20-21 September 2004, lot 900).
