Finely painted in the center with a coat-of-arms supported by a leopard and an elephant, the rim with wide border after Worcester porcelain's 'Best Queen's' pattern

Lot Essay

From the collection of Mildred and Rafi Y. Mottahedeh and illustrated by Howard & Ayers, op. cit., p. 475. Another piece from the service is illustrated by D. Nadler, China to Order, p. 145, who explains that the Arabic inscription refers to a prince, probably Bahadur II, the last Mughal Emperor of India.
