Lot Essay

A very similar fish tureen in different coloring was sold Christie's New York, 21 January 2004, lot 322. See also S. Roth, Chinese Porcelain, p. 27 for an example in the collection of the Gothenberg Historical Museum, Sweden, made for Niklas Sahlgren (1701-76), a director of the Swedish East India Co.
