A WOOD AND AMETHYST BRACELET, BY JAR
Known as the modern "Fabrege", Joel Arthur Rosenthal has become a jewelry legend. He first opened his shop in 1977 in the Place Vendome, his initials, 'JAR' the only source of identification on the facade. Since then he has established himself as a designer of exquisite jewels. His pieces, one-of-a-kind treasures with unexpected color combinations, are executed with the finest craftsmanship. Although rarely seen at auction and never in advertisements, the appearance of one of his creations on the market always causes a stir. The two pieces offered (lots 271 and 272) are early JAR pieces, quite different from the pavé-set jewels of the last few years. The unusual materials-wood and steel, respectively, are indicative of JAR's stylish and unique pieces.
