Lot Essay

The 'brilliancy' of such ormolu-enriched steel furniture was noted in R.Ackermann's Repository of Arts, 1825, which illustrated one of the related fenders manufactured by the Oxford Street ironmongers, May and Morrit (P.Agius, Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, London, 1984, p.162).
