Tasting note: Extraordinarily elegant yet powerful, with laser-like sweet black cherry fruit intermixed with floral and mineral notes, this dense ruby/purple-colored 1998 is thick, ripe, backward, and tannic. With extraordinary penetration as well as a saturated flavor profile, it requires 4-6 years of cellaring, and should keep for 25-30 years. Extremely pure, with grand cru Burgundy-like characteristics, this distinctive Chateauneuf du Pape brilliantly marries power with finesse.
