This box was made to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Danish shipping company DFDS. One box was made for the King of Sweden in gold, fifty boxes were made in silver for the Board of Directors and important customers, and one thousand were made in copper and given to the all the DFDS employees.

An identical copper box is in the collection of the Georg Jensen Museum, Copenhagen.
