Lot Essay

This is the first in Koppel's series of pitchers, designed in 1948 and awarded the gold medal at the 1951 Milan Triennale. Like much of Koppel's work, this pitcher was very time-consuming to produce. The silver wire on the handle alone took several days to apply.
