Nanna Ditzel (b. 1923) studied cabinet making at the Richards School and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Copenhagen. She married fellow designer Jorgen Ditzel and together they established their own design studio in 1946 and collaborated on many important commissions. Nanna Ditzel was also interested in jewelry and silver and designed pieces for Georg Jensen, thereby becoming the first woman to design for the firm. She has been affiliated with Jensen for much of her career, and her best known piece of hollowware is the centerpiece bowl, lot 438.
