CIRCA 1735, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS MARK
Modelled by J.J. Kändler, with a gallant and his companion in a tight passionate embrace, the gallant wearing a gilt-trimmed purple coat, a loose white shirt under a gilt-trimmed red coat unbuttoned to the waist, black breeches and black shoes with gilt buckles, seated on rockwork holding his companion tightly around the waist with his right arm, his left hand resting on a birdcage, the rockwork applied with flowers and foliage, his companion with a lace-edged black cap with a rose and red bow, a black ribbon choker, a flowered yellow jacket with turquoise and white lace cuffs, a purple-lined flowered yellow overskirt, a brown gilt flowered skirt over a crinoline skirt, embracing her lover with her right hand on his cheek and left arm around his neck (slight restoration to his left thumb, index finger and loop on birdcage, very slight crack to hem of skirt at back, slight chipping to extremities, areas of very slight wear)
