CIRCA 1765, BLUE CROWNED INTERLACED CS MARK, INCISED W,Z,W SZ, PAINTER'S RED W (?) MARK
Modelled by Joseph Nees, seated on a chair and leaning forward to play the harpsichord, her head turned to look at the manuscript on her right knee, another manuscript at her feet, her hair tied up, her loose blouse falling from her shoulder and with lace sleeves, a gilt hem and gilt laces at the back, her patterned pale olive-green skirt with a purple hem, the pale-green harpsichord with rococo white scrolling foliate legs enriched in gilding, on a red-tasselled cloth draped over a rectangular plinth base (part of manuscript lacking, small and minute chipping to harpsichord, slight chipping to edge of base, firing crack to right fingers and fault to chin and nose)
