Modelled by J.P. Melchior, the shepherdess reclining, alseep on a grassy mound with her head resting on her arm, her hoe beneath her and a recumbent sheep nearby, a shepherd seated at her side leaning on a hollow tree-trunk garlanded with flowers on a ribbon, a child playing with a hound to the right, on a shaped grassy rockwork base (child broken from base, through neck and repaired, restoration to branch, rim of trunk, her left toes, ribbons, his hat brim, pipe and child's right hand, further minor small damages and repairs)
