Lot Essay

This pretty cupboard, which was in honour of an aristocratic German couple on the occasion of their marriage is even accompanied by a calligraphy poem. It is a shame that we do not know who the couple were behind the monogram CW, it is unlikely though that the monogram refers to the princess of Wuerttemberg and the Prince zu Wied, for whom the monogram WW would seem more logical.
