A scrimshaw whales tooth depicting the Uncas of New Bedford
a large tooth engraved with a portrait of the ship with whalers about to harpoon a whale on one side, and on the other the tail of the whale flipping the boat out of the water with the tail fin. The tooth is inscribed 'The Ship "Uncas" of New Bedford Cape of Good Hope.1859.' and further engraved with 'Greasy luck to the bold brave/Yankee Whaleman'
